EMBRACE Study

UT Austin

Project Summary

Social isolation is a behavioral health crisis for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs). Music-based interventions offer a promising translational strategy to address the social-emotional needs of adults with IDDs, while also fostering meaningful connection with others. The EMBRACE study, created by community partners Lifelong Learning with Friends and the Red River Ensemble, will evaluate the bidirectional impact of a reciprocal inclusion 12-week no-cost community-music program. Participation is voluntary and unrelated to continued enrollment in other LLwF programming. *Note: this program is 12-weeks in duration rather than our typical 6-week format. Students enrolled will be expected to attend most sessions (absences due to illness / travel permitted).
